GNU/Linux

Fluxbox should work with any decent GNU/Linux system and is often included in distributions.

FreeBSD

Fluxbox works fine here too, have a look at the list of packages for information on how to install it.

Tru64 UNIX V5.1

An svn checkout on fluxbox from 22.12.2005 worked for me on my Compaq XP1000 workstation sporting a Tru64 V5.1 (OSF1) system, but only with a working GNU toolchain (not the native compiler) with gcc-3.4.4 and

./configure --disable-xmb

It works well, though on the exit you can spot

IOT/Abort trap

or even (for fluxbox -h or fluxbox -v)b

terminate called after throwing an instance of ´std::bad_alloc´
 what(): St9bad_alloc

With xmb enabled you'd get something involving conversion of UTF8 and fluxbox would consume memory quickly with crashing because of running out of it.

Don't know if maybe on an newer version of the OS you could actually enable xmb.

Mac OS X

This is known to work through Fink or MacPorts (DarwinPorts). Fink offers 1.0rc2, and earlier versions are available. You should be able to use this in any X distribution, though 1.0rc2 hasnt been very vigorously tested. You should be able to get the latest version of Fluxbox by running fink install fluxbox or sudo apt-get install fluxbox (Through Fink) or port install fluxbox
